“The Stand In” Blues Band

Made up of Glasgow’s finest guitarists, Jim Keilt, John Scott & Al Fleming this collective of talent formed for this festival will be playing well known, blow your mind blues!
The unassuming Jim Keilt, plays in a number of different bands, including the Davy Pattison Band, Lonehead and, in his time, has recorded and toured with many well known artists including: John Otway; Chas Chandler (Jimi Hendrix); The Look; and Middle of the Road. He’s also shared the bill with Patti Smith, SAHB, Nazareth, Joe Walsh, Uriah Heep, Foreigner, The Sweet and even the Village People. Pete Townsend complimented him on his guitar playing on the stage version of ‘Tommy’ in London. Jim has a regular slot at the State Bar in Glasgow on a Tuesday night.
Al Fleming – also plays regularly in what is thought to be the longest running jam night ever along with Jim.
His interest in Blues first began in the mid ‘60’s in Aberdeen when he started playing guitar. His first influences were Country Blues and players like Big Bill Broonzy, Leadbelly, Robert Johnstone, etc. He was also into early Jazz Blues and the music of W.C. Handy, Jelly Roll Morton, etc. The Blues is something that AI loves and he can’t really believe that, after all the years, he still has that drive to perform.
